Building a powerful and compelling entertainment offering with Vooks

How did you spend your weekend? If you have children, perhaps you spent it watching Netflix’s latest addition, “Story Time Book” – a series of animated stories designed to help children improve their reading abilities.

This is a wonderful milestone for our client, Vooks, that is behind these stories. They transform traditional children’s books into experiences that promote literacy and imagination among children – all in an age of online streaming.

We’ve been working closely together for a couple of years and we’re delighted to see their success. We’ve partnered on everything from designing the highly intuitive experience for children and educators, to building a technically-robust platform that easily handles hundreds of thousands of concurrent families streaming their content. As we transitioned from an older platform, our work involved the migration of 1.5 million users.

Our team, made up of software and SRE engineersproduct designers, and quality assurance professionals, has been working to provide Vooks the support needed to create a compelling entertainment product.

Some of the technical highlights include the use of AI-based monitoring to detect potential anomalies and any possible performance degradation in the platform, as well as the implementation of centralized in-app store purchases, analytics and management (using RevenueCat integration between mobile apps and the backend API). Meanwhile, the implementation of real-time streaming analytics provides valuable insights into usage patterns. We also spent time improving the deployment processes, using Github Actions, and ensuring zero downtime. And much more – every action we take is taken with the aim of generating long-term business success for Vooks.
